BRIDGES
One of our most recent bridge projects was in the Mossy Oaks neighborhood in Beaufort, SC. This community project addressed repeated flooding in the Mossy Oaks neighborhood during heavy storms, storm surges, and king tides.
This contract addressed drainage concerns and created a safe boardwalk for local residents to enjoy the now drainage-controlled area and community pond.
By removing undersized existing culverts and replacing them with larger pipes of the correct size, the amount of water the neighborhood faces during storms became manageable. A portion of Battery Creek Road was raised to provide enough cover for the larger pipe crossings.
To provide protection from high tides and storm surges, flap gates were installed on the downside of the pipes underneath the Spanish Moss Trail, creating a natural detention area.
A sheet pile wall, over 50,000 ft long, was installed and driven to depths of 32 ft. It was installed within the old railroad bed to provide added strength and reinforcement. It was finished with a concrete sheet pile cap.
This contract required over 8,000 linear feet of pipes to be installed, ranging in size from 15” to 60”. We implemented a proper draining system and constructed a 10 ft wide and 30 ft long timber boardwalk for the neighborhood Duck Pond once the new drainage pipes were in place.
Bulkheads, Seawalls, Retaining Walls, and Sheet Piling

By using different steel sheets, a wall is formed with the interlocking technology to allow for earth retention by increasing overall resistance to bending. We recently just completed a contract for a sheet piling wall of over 50,000 ft long in Mossy Oaks neighborhood of Beaufort, SC. This wall was installed within the old railroad bed to provide added strength and reinforcement while being driven to depths of 32 ft.

Commercial Drainage

Truluck Construction completed a commercial drainage project for Charleston Country at Morrison Court in McClellanville. The Morrison Court Drainage Improvement Project involved the replacement of an undersized 36” CMP culvert with a new 6’x4’ box culvert.
Required work for this project included culvert removal, box culvert, headwall installation, channel improvements, riprap stabilization, asphalt milling and replacement, grading, and erosion control.

Docks & Pierheads

We recently completed a project for the Charleston Crab House where their old dock system was replaced with a 55’ x 10’ new floating dock. An additional aluminum ramp was installed to connect the new floating dock portion to their new main dock. Pile jackets were installed, and the old floating dock system was properly removed.

RipRap & Erosion Control

Walkways
Truluck Construction can build or modify your walkway to keep users safe and happy. To protect residents from getting too close to a known alligator habitat along the Kiawah Trail, Truluck Construction just recently installed the Osprey Point Pond Fence for this community trail. The fence is designed to be both aesthetically pleasing, fitting the natural look of Kiawah, and creating a strong barrier to deter guests from getting too close to the alligators. To construct the walkway’s 70 linear foot long barrier, 6×6 timber posts and hog wire were used in addition to square piles, timber caps, and timber bottom rails.
